Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret. by Judy Blume
This book is about a girl named Margaret Simon who moved from New York to the suburbs. She goes to a new school and wants to fit in with other girls. They promised they would tell each other everything, like first periods, first kisses, and first bras and more. But, for Margaret there are somethings that are too private to share with her friends. Luckily, she has someone who will always listen too her even though he might not reply immediately.
The characters are Margaret, Nancy, Gretchen, Janie, and Margaret’s parents. First, Margaret is polite, and experiences a lot of changes. Second, Nancy is Margarets’ first friend when she moved. She wants to be the first one who gets all the changes. Also, she creates a secret club including all the four girls. Third, Gretchen is also a friend of Margaret. She met her in school. She is also in the secret club and is nice. Fourth, Janie who is a friend of Margaret. She also met her in school, and she is in the secret club. She is also nice to Margaret. Sixth, Margaret’s parents. They do not want Margaret to follow any religion, and wants her to choose when she grows up. They always want Margaret to be happy and want to help her.
I learned that you can share secrets with your friends, but things that are a bit private keep it to yourself. I also learned that if you’re going to say something-even if it is not a secret or just a word- stop and think again and ask yourself, is this a good idea? Will it affect others and me?
I bought this book because I went on trip to America, and I met my school principal. She suggested me this book because there will be a test about this book in 6th grade. That is the reason I bought this book and I liked it, I also think it is going to be very helpful.
There are chapters, but there are no heading so I will just tell how many chapters there are. There are 25 chapters and 171 pages. I recommend this for 5-6th grade or maybe 4th grade because I read it when I was in 4th grade.
